 Healthy eating pyramid

Healthy eating pyramid is a set of practical recommendations of quantity and type of food in your daily, balanced diet. The set is presented in a graphic format, where the levels identify the groups of products and their quantities. Healthy food pyramid was developed in the United States by the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Health and Welfare and it is the brief, graphical summary of the nutritional recommendations. Polish nutritionists have adapted it to the conditions, making slight modifications to the recommended amounts of certain groups of products. The base of the pyramid and the fundament for our daily diet are cereal products, where it is recommended to consume about 6 servings per day (US- 6 to 11 servings). The second level of the pyramid is 4 portions of vegetables and three of fruit. The third level is 2 to 3 portions of milk and dairy products, and 2 to 3 servings of meat, fish, eggs, legumes or nuts. At the top of the pyramid there is fat and sweets, the consumption of which should be limited as much as possible.
